Kate stepped out her door onto the busy street. Her blond hair was tied in a bun and she was wearing a white blouse and black high heel stiletto pumps. She was also wearing black stockings that were new. She loved them as they were comfy and practical for work but the problem was when she wore them her shoes tended to slip.

As she walked down the road Kate was aware of her heels were popping every time she took a step. As she continued down the road a man came running across and nearly bumped into her. She had to speed up to miss him. When he had gone she straightened her hair and walked a few more steps before realising her left pump was missing. She glanced behind her to see it a few feet back and when she got to it she saw it was wedged in a drain. Every time she put her foot in and pulled, her foot slipped out because of her stockings. Every time she knelt down to pull it her right shoe was pushed off her foot leaving her completely shoeless. Eventually she stepped out of her right heel and bent down to pull her wedged pump out. More and more people were walking past her now and she felt embarrassed but she eventually got it free, dropped it on the ground and stepped into it. Then she noticed that her other shoe was not next to her. Evidently a pedestrian had kicked it in the road whilst walking past and a car had ran over it, damaging it badly. Desperately she looked around for a shoe store but saw instead a charity shop over the road so she walked over the road shoeless as she dumped her left shoe in the bin as it was useless without its partner. In the charity shop there was only one pair of appropriate shoes. Unfortunately they were slightly too big so they popped even more. Having no time to search for more shoes, she bought them but kept them in the bag and got a taxi to her place of work.

In the taxi she, put on her shoes and when she arrived she stepped out of the car. When she got into her work, she walked to the elevators but they were out of service. She dreaded the thought of going upstairs so he gripped her pumps with her toes and walked up the stairs carefully. Her shoes nearly fell off several times but she managed to keep them on. When she got to her office she crossed her legs at her desk and started typing on her computer. As soon as her legs were crossed her right pump started dangling as she wagged it more and more it fell off so she crossed her left leg over her right and dangled that one too. In due time, it too fell off when she was startled by her phone. As she answered, she put on her left pump and felt around for her other one. It was her boss on the phone and he told her to come to his office immediately. When she put the receiver down Kate got on the floor, left pump flicking off as she did, and looked for the missing shoe. She found it, put it on and walked quickly to her bosses office. As she walked up the stairs, her right pump slipped off her foot. She turned around to pick it up but it had fallen right back to the bottom of the stairs from where she had started. As she went back down to retrieve her missing pump, she heard her phone ringing again. Hastily, she put her pump back on and answered the phone. It and it was her boss again he said if she wasn' t in his office immediately she would be fired. Dashing quickly out of her office, she lost both pumps on the stairs. One fell to the base of the stairs and the other slipped through the banister and was nowhere to be seen. She ran shoeless to her bosses office and after her important brief she went to find her shoes. Neither pump could be located. That's when she caught site of Catherine walking down the corridor holding both of Kate's pumps. Kate pleaded with her to quickly return her shoes as she had to meet with a client immediately.. Catherine agreed sweetly and handed over the pumps but when Kate put them she noticed that the heels were more flimsy than they had been. As she ran to the bus stop in the pouring rain both her heels snapped so she had to throw them away as she grumbled at the thought of Catherine breaking her heels.

Kate had to meet the important client shoeless and in soaked black stockings. .
