Hello Skylark,

Welcome to the message board.

I'll tell you what I know about anklets (or ankle bracelets).

Most of the women I have seen wearing an anklet, wear it on the left ankle. From what I understand, when anklets started to become popular in the early 80's, it would be worn by a woman to show that she was "seriously attached", sort of like a precursor to an engagement ring but not as serious. I don't know if there is a significance as to which ankle she wears it on but the left seems to be more common. I can only guess (and this is a wild guess) that an anklet worn on the left means she is attached and an anklet on the right is just "ornamental" jewelry.

Anybody please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Comments anybody??

Nylonman.

: I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it makes a difference which ankle you wear an anklet on. I prefer to wear one on the left ankle but I've noticed women wearing them on the right. Would appreciate your response:)
