It's just the age we're living in. Back in the conversative 80s, the footwear was constrictive and uncomfortable. During the liberal 90s and today, the style of footwear has become very casual, to the point where you see a woman in a business suit and her shoes resemble something she would wear to the beach or in her bedroom. The loose and comfortable feel definately encourages shoeplay and the open-toed style gives a woman a chance to paint her nails and attract attention there instead of somewhere else.
