Norman, your e-mail brought back a university memory. It was the start of a new academic year in September 1984. There was this attractive girl from some of my previous year's math classes. She was wearing a knee length skirt and a black pair of those shoes that were so popular in the 80's; the flats that were shaped like a pump minus the heel. Anyways, she and her boyfriend were making a mad dash for a bus that was just about to leave. While she was running, off came one of her shoes exposing a pretty bare foot. She stopped and yelled at her boyfriend to keep going. The thing is he kept going and seemed oblivious to her whole predicament. Meanwhile she ran back about 10 feet with one shoe on and one off. I always thought of how courageous this girl was to turn back but tell her boyfriend to keep going. And I always thought what a weenie he was to not even notice what had happened to her. I would have stopped and ran back with her. Hell with the bus, another will come along.
