Hi Jenna,

I love your mule story. I'll agree with Kinja that this story now ranks as my all time favorite post. During the months of July and August (mostly July), I posted a few true stories about women I have seen in public wearing or walking wearing only one shoe (see the Nylonman posts). Also, Kinja has some excellent hypothetical posts dating back to April. I am sorry about your losing your mule. I hope they weren't too new. Although it must have been embarrassing losing your shoe, I'm glad you were able to post your experience here without feeling too self conscious. I'm just wondering who the people in the bar were who questioned you about being in only one shoe. Telling them that I friend hid your shoe was a pretty good answer I guess. Another thing you could have told them is that your foot was hurting you so badly that you had to take your shoe off. Another thing I'm curious about is when you had to walk in this one-shoe condition, would you walk on just the toes of your stocking foot or would you place it flat on the floor with each step? How far did you have to walk back from the bar to work and then from work to home in this one-shoe condition? I look forward to hearing your reply.

If you have any more stories about shoe loss or being in public with only one shoe I'd love to hear them too. You can also e-mail me at NM1700@Yahoo.com

Take care.

: I stumbled upon this site and thought I would share an adventure that happened to me. I was at a bar on the waterfront with friends and wearing stockings with mules as it was a weekday and I had to go back to work afterwards. I often dip or dangling or just play with my shoe.I was seated at a table at the end of the platform built over the water. I got up quickly to call a friend who walked in and as I did my left mule came off, I turned and stretched out my foot to get it back on while still half looking at my friend knocking my shoe against the table and over the edge into the water. I lost it, felt really stupid. People must have thought what a dumb blonde. Afterwards I had to walk out with one mule on. It was not nice walking on a sticky floor with a stockinged foot. LUCKILY NO ONE SAW ME LOSE IT. But they did see me walk with one mule. I just told people in the bar who asked why I only had one shoe that a friend had hidden it. BACK AT WORK I JUST TRIED TO STAY BEHIND MY DESK. Although my mule was gone for good I did not throw the other one away because walking with one shoe on was closer to normality.
