Open-toe is much more comfortable by leaps and strides (no pun intended). Better ventilation. I've worn open-toe shoes mainly without hose but have on occasion. It's not too fun to wear open toes when you get your feet wet and you're wearing hose. It's like wearing wet socks but they dry faster. Sandals or open toe was meant to be casual and you generally don't wear hose when dressing casually. So generally, no hose is much more comfortable than with hose. And that is a period at the end of that sentence.
